On a personal note……..
There are many places on earth where we lay our loved ones to rest. There are many markers and stones that tell stories of our ancestry, and that of others like ourselves that have walked the earth before us, now departed, scattered all throughout the world. They share similarities to be sure but remain truly different to those emotionally attached to their specific loved ones.
Our special place is Evergreen Cemetery in Kennebunk, Maine. A cemetery where death is not scary nor vicious, but is dressed as an old kind admiral welcoming you aboard your journey home. Not a place of soundless bones or silent epitaphs, Evergreen continually speaks through connective emotion allowing you to still feel your loved one’s energy all around you.
Like a familiar friend, we know its twists and turns and all the right edges to avoid while driving through. We have walked the grounds and have become familiar with those who are buried next to our loved ones and cherish the stories that they can tell. This hallowed ground is surrounded by Maine woods, ocean air, dreamy skies, and beauty that transforms the soul. Truly a safe place of contentment and peace; one finds the perfect place to reflect and to sort out thoughts and problems, whilst a honey-vanilla wind whips through the old trees when in bloom.
Evergreen Cemetery will remain for generations to come, speaking its secrets as it observes all four seasons, holding our loved ones until we see them again.
